Program Modules
Miniature Rooms ($10/person)
In this workshop, which can be held in the classroom or at the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys, students will design and create a miniature room. Whether creating a setting from a favorite story or a dream house, students will learn about scale, design, problem solving and construction techniques. This “Green” project is made of everyday objects, provided by the museum, such as plastic canisters, boxes and design supplies that will be recycled into furnishing for the room. Japanese Paper People ($6/person)
In this workshop, which can be held in the classroom or at the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys, students will use beautiful Japanese rice paper to create a doll, while learning about holidays celebrated by families in Japan. Museum staff will bring examples of dolls from Japan and other countries for students to examine and compare.

Jumping Jack Puppets ($6/person)
In this workshop, which can be held in the classroom or at the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys, students will create their own paper puppet while learning about the art of puppets from around the world. Please specify classroom or field trip on your request.
Yarn Doll
($6/person)
In this workshop, which can be held in the classroom or at the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys, students create their own traditional doll, using yarn. Please specify classroom or field trip on your request.
Japanese Fish Kites
($6/person)
In this workshop, which can be held in the classroom or at the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys, students will make a fish kites, while learning about holidays celebrated by families in Japan. Staff can bring and discuss hands-on dolls from Japan.

Miniature Landscapes ($10/person)
In this workshop, which can be held in the classroom or at the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys, students will design and create a miniature landscape or garden, using clay, dried plants and other natural materials. Students will learn about scale, design, problem solving and landscapes.

Guatemalan Worry Dolls ($6/person)
In this workshop, which can be held in the classroom or at the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys, students will learn about Guatemalan Worry dolls, while making one to take home. Please specify classroom or field trip on your request.
Optical Toys
($6/person)
In this workshop, which can be held in the classroom or at the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys, students will study and learn how to make their own Thaumatropes, optical illusion toys. Thaumatropes are spinning toys that were a precursor to animation. Please specify classroom or field trip on your request.
Cornhusk Dolls
($6/person)
In this workshop, which can be held in the classroom or at the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys, students create their own traditional American doll from cornhusks, while learning about the importance of corn in our history. Once students have created a basic doll, instructor will help students customize dolls with dresses, capes and wings to take a basic doll and transform it into a superhero, princess or other character. Pompon Animals
($6/person)
In this workshop, which can be held in the classroom or at the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys, students will create tiny animals from pompons in this great tactile project for younger students. This program focuses on following directions, comparing sizes of similar objects and a basic discussion of animals. Please specify classroom or field trip on your request.
Fairies and Gnomes ($6/person - doll only, $10/person - doll & home)
In this workshop, which can be held in the classroom or at the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys, students will create a fairy or gnome dolls with felt, wooden beads, artificial flowers, sequins and other craft supplies. This whimsical project is fun for girls and boys! Please specify classroom or field trip on your request. This workshop can be expanded to include building homes for the fairies and gnomes that look like fallen logs or toadstools.
Finger Puppets
($6/person)
In this workshop, which can be held in the classroom or at the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys, students will make stories come to life while making finger puppets.

Clothespin Folk Dolls
($6/person)

($10/person)
In this workshop, which can be held in the classroom or at the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys, students will transform boxes, design samples and everyday objects into castles. The project focuses on problem solving, re-imaging uses for everyday objects and storytelling.
